Kelsey Thornton
Originally from Richmond, Virginia, Dr. Kelsey Thornton is excited to be starting her next adventure in Pittsburgh at East End Veterinary Medical Centre! A lifelong curiosity in animal health and a deep sense of empathy made veterinary medicine a natural fit for her. She first earned a bachelor's degree from Longwood University in Farmville, VA, where she also discovered a love for training service dogs. Dr. Thornton went on to receive her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine.
During vet school, Dr. Thornton developed a few special interests including dermatology, behavior, and dentistry. She became Fear-Free Certified and earned a certification in peaceful euthanasia, all while focusing on what she enjoys the most — building strong, trusting relationships with pet owners and helping them feel confident and informed in their pets' care. Dr. Thornton is especially passionate about making vet visits a positive experience for everyone involved (two-legged and four-legged alike).
Outside of the clinic, you'll find her either on a yoga mat, reading a good book, tending to her garden, or with binoculars in hand bird watching. She shares her home with her partner who is also a veterinarian, two lovable (but mischievous) black labs, Marci and Stevie, and a sassy tabby cat named Vallie. She feels so lucky to combine her passion and work.
