Western PA Humane Society is the area’s oldest and largest animal welfare organization and has been providing shelter and care for Pittsburgh’s unwanted animals – over 129 years of matching wonderful pets with wonderful people.

The Animal Rescue League is relied on as a resource for adoption, foster homes, veterinary care, behavioral training and animal welfare advocacy. They consider the unique needs of all the animals in their care and work compassionately to prepare every safe, appropriately socialized pet for a wonderful new life.

Animal Full Life Rescue, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to finding homes for lost, abused, and abandoned cats and dogs, and giving animals a full quality life. They never execute unplaced animals, and they are a cageless shelter, using cages only in extreme circumstances.

White Oak Animal Safe Haven is a NO-KILL animal shelter located in the borough of White Oak across from the White Oak Borough Building. Many of the animals WOASH cares for are usually unwanted and abandoned strays.

Animal protectors of Allegheny County is a no-kill shelter located in New Kensington, PA. Their shelter is always full of animals, many of which are strays.

Animal Advocates is an all volunteer Pittsburgh based animal protection and animal rights organization. Animal Advocates is not a shelter. Except for a limited number of cats fostered at their office, their adoptable rescued animals are cared for in loving,volunteer foster homes.

Critter Care is a very small, non-profit group of pet lovers, run by a Veterinarian, dedicated to saving the lives of homeless and unwanted animals. They rescue cats and dogs and keep them in their own homes until they can find permanent homes. They believe that this practice of fostering their animals helps them to understand the personality and needs of each pet and then match that pet to the right family.

Humane Society of Westmoreland County is dedicated to the rescue/shelter/adoption of companion animals.

Australian Cattle Dog Rescue Association is a privately-funded non-profit 501(c)(3) organization.  They are a network of volunteers whose goal is to match displaced ACDs with suitable homes while also educating the public about these highly energetic and intelligent dogs. They provide a web presence for the shelters who have happened upon these unique dogs as well as a resource for the foster homes who socialize them in a family setting.
